Millet is one of the oldest cultivated crops and believed to be the first domesticated cereal grain. Studies have shown that a diet rich in millets including whole grains, is protective against thenon-communicable diseases like diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. To mark the International Year of Millets 2023 and to create the awareness about the goodness of millets , today the students of Cambridge Wing celebrated the Millets Day on 23rd August , 2023 with full zeal and enthusiasm.
A series of Millet-centric activities like Millet Day Parade Millet Parody Talk Show Debate and Speech were carried out by the students. The students of lower secondary classes showed an aesthetic culinary demonstration of various millet-rich recipes. All the students and teachers brought their millet rich tiffin to school to relish this superfood. Students gained knowledge regarding healthy eating habits and clarified various myths related to the same.
This activity highlights the importance of these millets for our health and environment. It was indeed a day full of learning and inculcating healthy eating habits.
