The CBSE workshop on Competency-Based Assessment provided valuable insights into modernizing classroom evaluations. We were introduced to the shift from traditional rote learning assessments to competency-based evaluations that focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-life application of knowledge. The workshop included practical exercises where we developed questions that test higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), case-based scenarios, and open-ended responses. We also learned to align assessments with learning outcomes, ensuring students' progress is tracked according to competency development.
Additionally, the workshop emphasized the creation of rubrics for objective, fair assessment, equipping teachers with tools for meaningful classroom evaluation.
