The workshop was very informative and served as a catalyst for ongoing initiatives by NDMA, IDDRR, and the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project. It focused on "empowering the next generation for a resilient future." It’s aligned with the Prime Minister’s 10-Point Agenda on DRR. The Government of India is giving high priority to disaster mitigation through structured educational programs and professional training. Disaster management is introduced as a highly multidisciplinary subject wherein rich contributions have been made by the fields of environmental sciences, medicine, geography, geology, sociology, political science, economics, the social work profession, psychology, public administration, law, gender studies, engineering sciences, demography, media studies, and so on. Screening of prize-winning documentaries and folk singing by Ms. Maithili Thakur, followed by Kathak Performance by Shri Abhimanyu Lal and Ms. Varsha Dasgupta.
